What is Intermodal

What is Intermodal?
Intermodal shipping involves multiple modes of transportation to capitalize on the wide distribution and bulk delivery capabilities of rail while also recognizing the necessity of other shipping modes. In an intermodal shipping model, bulk product arriving by ship or express rail can be loaded or unloaded by truck and transported to delivery points or storage yards in smaller deliveries. Intermodal and Transloading services often refer to the same or similar processes.
